Frequently asked questions
Does compressing an image change its dimensions?
In quality mode, never. In target size mode, dimensions are also scaled down as a last resort if quality alone can't get an image under your chosen size, so the result never exceeds the limit you set.
What's the difference between quality mode and target size mode?
Quality mode applies one compression level to every image, which is fast and predictable. Target size mode automatically searches for the compression level that gets each image as close as possible to a file size you choose, in kilobytes.
Can I compress PNG files?
Yes, though PNG is a lossless format so size reductions are more modest than JPG or WebP. For the smallest possible file size, converting to JPG or WebP usually helps more.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Every image is compressed locally on your device using the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server.
Can I download every compressed image at once?
Yes. Once the batch finishes processing, a Download all as ZIP button appears alongside each image's individual download link.
