What size should a Facebook profile picture be?
Facebook recommends uploading a square photo of at least 720×720 pixels. It requires a minimum of 180×180, and displays it at 170×170 on desktop and 128×128 on mobile.
Why is my profile picture shown as a circle?
Facebook masks every profile picture into a circle across the site and app. Uploading a square image with your subject centered ensures nothing important gets cut off by that circular crop.
Why can't I set a different width and height?
Profile pictures are always square on Facebook, so this tool locks height to width. If your photo isn't square, it's automatically centered and cropped to fit.
