JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG will be replaced with a white background in the output. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead.
Frequently asked questions
Why convert PNG to JPG?
JPG files are typically much smaller than PNG files for photographic content, which means faster uploads, faster page loads, and less storage space — at the cost of losing transparency.
What happens to transparent areas in my PNG?
JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent or semi-transparent areas in your PNG will be composited against a white background in the output JPG. You cannot keep transparency in a JPEG file.
Can I convert multiple PNG files at once?
Yes. Add as many .png files as you like, convert them together, and download each JPG individually or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
Will I lose quality converting PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless and JPG is lossy, so there is always some quality loss in the conversion. At high quality settings (90%+), the difference is very hard to spot in photographs. However, sharp-edged graphics, text, and line art may show visible artifacts.
Can I choose the background color for transparent areas?
Currently, transparent areas are always composited against white, which is the most common need. A background-color option may be added in the future.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Every PNG file is read and converted locally in your browser. Nothing is ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere.
