Frequently asked questions
What size should a Reel cover image be?
Instagram recommends a 1080×1920 (9:16) image for a Reel cover, matching the vertical shape of the Reel itself.
Why do you show shaded overlay areas?
When someone views your Reel, Instagram overlays the caption, audio name, and the like/comment/share icons near the bottom and right edge of the cover. Keeping faces and key details out of those zones stops them from being covered up.
Should I crop my photo or keep the whole thing?
Turning off "Fill frame" keeps every pixel of your original photo and adds letterboxing if the aspect ratio doesn't match. Turning it on crops the photo to exactly fill the 9:16 cover with no bars.
What does the zoom slider do?
It scales your photo up inside the 9:16 crop so you can recentre the important part of the image, useful when your source photo is much wider or shorter than a Reel cover.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
